Carpet Shopping

Who knew that carpet shopping was such an adventure?

Today, I woke up needing to go to Tesco to get some shoes. I totally forgot that this week I am going to a school for an observation week but I don't have any school shoes. So, I had to quickly go and find some cheap shoes that will fit the bill before I buy some proper good winter shoes for my first placement.

Then, because I am currently in the process of redecorating my room, I needed to buy a new carpet. The colour that I painted the walls- sage green- did not match the already there dark blue carpet. It was an experience that's for sure.

1. So many rolls.
I have never been in a carpet shop before and this sounds incredibly stupid but I didn't expect so many rolls of carpet to be out on the shop floor. There were just aisles and aisles of rolls. It looked so surreal and such a big task trying to find the right one. Walking up and down the aisles was exciting though. I just ran my hand across every single roll as I looked at them all!

2. Ugly carpets.
Not only are there loads of carpets, there also are a load of ugly carpets. I'm sure someone else wants them for their house but to me, they were quite horrific. This was ranging from the ones that were so rough to touch to the ones with horrible designs or patterns.

3. Prices.
Carpets are expensive. Now, for someone on a healthy wage, they're not that expensive but for me, who is a student, they were quite extravagant. The first carpet that I liked was priced at £300 and I was not prepared to pay that. Thankfully, I found one that I liked for £100 and it was the correct size.

4. Other buyers are sharks.
We had gone to two shops to compare carpets and prices but after the second, I was decided on a particular ivory coloured carpet that was priced £100 we found at the first shop. We went back to the shop and another couple was hanging around the carpets. I went over and made my decision to buy it. A rookie mistake that I made was saying that I would buy it out loud because the second I did, the man ran off to find a man that worked there to buy the carpet. We didn't know this at the time so we strolled over to find a man of our own to help us only to find the carpet had been sold to the man previously. I wanted to cry. Thankfully though, the man checked and the same carpet was out back with the size we wanted. We even got it for the same price. Thank God!

I feel so old having got so excited about carpet shopping... Hopefully, the carpet will be fitted by next weekend or the weekend after and I can move my stuff into my brand new room. I'm excited!

It turned out that my Sunday Bumday wasn't quite a Bumday afterall. What have you done with your Sunday?

Love you all, and enjoy the lasting hours of the weekend.
