Tips on How to Start Your Own Blog

In my personal, writing-loving opinion, I feel like everyone should write in some way or sort. Writing which goes beyond the cheeky Facebook message/tweet/text message or the necessity of academic writing for your latest assignment. I feel like people should tap into their creative, language-drive left hemisphere of their brain to create something that they can be proud of. I know this is a thought because I absolutely love writing, and I know many do not share the same passion as me but if you DO, and you've just been scared about creating something so personal as a blog, let me help you to see that it's not so scary after all.

 Write about your passions
If you're looking for a place to start, there's no better place than exploring your likes/dislikes etc. You know them more than you know your own big toe on your left foot. Have you ever noticed how it's easier to write/talk about yourself and what you know than trying to jump into the deep end with a so called, society perceived "smart topic" that you have no clue about? Write about what you know and love and you'll find that your fingers do all the typing with very little strenuous thinking on your brain's part. Perfect.
 Figure out a game-plan
It's good enough to just write about your passions and what you know, but to encapsulate everything you want and to draw in the best audience, you need to figure out what type of blog it is you want to create and stick to it. Whether that is a news blog, review blog, a beauty blog or personal experience blog. I've managed to combine a personal blog with a few tips and tricks to help you guys out. Once you've figured out your game-plan, there's nothing from stopping you from churning out blog posts.
 Create a schedule
The most important thing for readers is knowing when there will be a blog post. This is by no means telling you to create a blog everyday but some consistency with your posting should be thought about. Have you ever been a follower of a TV show and get so excited for the weekly Friday viewing but then get so mad when there isn't one that week? That's the same for people who keep coming back to your blog, they want to see the content on the days that they expect it and they can't expect a schedule unless you either explicitly tell them or they learn when you post.
 Make it pretty
Design your blog to be something that if you stumbled across, you would want to stay and read. Customise everything to match your personality and the genre/tone of your blog- it'll make it unique to you and ultimately unique to everyone else. This ranges from a snazzy, catchy title of your blog, to the very nitty gritty aspects of colour/font and all that jazz. It's yours, so make it pretty and something you are proud to share.

 Just go for it
If you're worried about looking silly or people not liking what you produce, why do you care that much? The whole point of living in a world where most of the time we are free to say and do what we want within reason is so that we can do the things that we want without the fear of being negatively judged. I'm not saying you won't be, because you will but won't the good, encouraging comments that people give you be worth so much more? I can't thank the people who ask me about my blog, what the next one will be about, if it's out yet or not enough because they drive me to keep creating.
Don't be scared, just do it and worry about everything else later.
I hope you all are inspired as little to create something more, even if it's not a blog. I thoroughly enjoy this blogging process and hope that you find something you love a much as I do this.

Happy blogging to everyone who wishes to rise to the challenge and hope you all have a wonderful Thursday. Much love,
Nicole
